Classical music in Munich

With the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Broadcasting and the Bavarian State Orchestra Munich has three top-class orchestras working together with various international known conductors. The most representative locations are the Herkulessaal in the Bavarian Residence and the Philharmonie at the Gasteig.

Gasteig – Munich’s Centre of Culture and Education

The Gasteig situated at the Rosenheimer Platz is the domicile of various function rooms and concert halls for diverse events. Exhibitions, speeches, cinema shows, readings, classical and modern concerts, theatre and ballet performances take place here as well as the fixed annual date of the Munich Bücherschau, the ARD Music Competition, the Ash Wednesday of cabaret artists and the Filmfest Munich. Every day thousands of Munich citizens visit the Central Library at the Gasteig. The heart of the Gasteig certainly is the Philharmonie with the Klais-Organ.
